The Big River and the Lost Bible

Long ago there was a great river that flowed through the heart of the tribe’s territory. This river was a source of life for the entire tribe, providing them with plenty of fish to eat and water to drink.

One day, as the men were fishing in the river, a great storm rolled in. The winds were strong, and the rain was heavy, making it difficult for the men to see or navigate the river. As they struggled to keep their boats afloat, one of the men noticed something floating in the water. It was a large, leather-bound book, with pages that were waterlogged and torn.

Curious, the fisherman picked up the book and examined it. Inside, he found that it was a Bible, filled with stories and teachings that he had never seen before.

Excited by his discovery, he brought the Bible back to his village, where he showed it to the elders. They too were amazed by the book and recognized it as a great treasure.

But as they studied the Bible, they realized that they did not have the knowledge to fully understand its teachings. So they decided to send a group of their bravest warriors on a journey to seek out someone who could teach them the ways of this sacred book.

For many weeks, the warriors traveled through the forest and over hills, asking everyone they met if they knew of someone who could help them. But no one had ever seen a book like this before, and the warriors began to lose hope.

Just as they were about to give up, they came upon an old shaman sitting by a campfire. He was a wise man, known for his knowledge of the natural world and the spirits that dwelled within it.

The warriors told the old man of their journey and showed him the Bible. To their surprise, he nodded knowingly and told them that he had been waiting for them.

He took the warriors under his wing and taught them the ways of the sacred book. He showed them how to read its pages and understand some of its teachings, and in doing so, gave them a greater understanding of the world around them.

When the warriors returned to their village, they were changed. They no longer saw the world in the same way, and they had a newfound respect for the power of knowledge and wisdom.

And though the lost Bible had been found and its teachings shared, the Lumbee knew that the river would continue to flow, carrying with it the stories and traditions of their people for generations to come.

As time passed, the tribe continued to treasure the lost Bible and the knowledge it contained. They passed down its teachings from generation to generation, and the book became a symbol of their tribe’s wisdom and strength.

But as the years went by, the tribe began to face new challenges. The world around them was changing, and they found themselves struggling to adapt to new ways of life. Despite their efforts to hold onto their traditions and culture, the elders found themselves facing pressures from outside forces, and many of their people began to lose their way.

In the midst of this turmoil, the lost Bible served as a reminder of the wisdom and teachings that had sustained the tribe for so long. It reminded them of the importance of staying true to their roots and holding onto the knowledge that had been passed down to them.

And so, the tribe continued to hold the lost Bible in high regard, using the teachings of Creator Sets Free to guide them through times of struggle and uncertainty. Through their perseverance and dedication to Creator and to their heritage, the tribe was able to overcome the challenges they faced and continue to thrive to this day.

The moral of this story is that knowledge and wisdom are powerful tools that can help us navigate the complexities of life. By having a strong hold of the Good Medicine of the Bible and holding onto our traditions and respecting the teachings of our ancestors, we can find the strength and guidance we need to overcome any obstacle. And in doing so, we can ensure that our faith, our culture and our heritage continue to thrive for generations to come.
