In a remote, very cold Inuit community, there lived a family of hunters who relied on the bounties of the land and sea for their survival. The father of the family was a skilled hunter, who knew how to navigate the icy waters and hunt the elusive game on land. But one day, while out on a hunting trip, the father suffered a severe injury that left him unable to move his legs. He was devastated because he knew he was not going to be able to provide for his family. So he was constantly praying to Creator to find a way to help his family.

The family was in a dire situation, as they had no food and no means to acquire any. The mother tried her best to provide for her family by gathering berries and roots, but it was not enough to sustain them. The children were weak and hungry, and the mother was worried about their survival. She prayed to Creator for guidance on how to deal with this dangerous situation.

Three nights later, the mother had a dream in which a beautiful woman appeared to her and said, “Do not fear, you are surrounded by good spirits. I am the mother of Creator Sets Free. Go to the edge of the ice and look for a seal. It will provide you with the nourishment you need to survive.”

The next day, the mother and her children set out to the edge of the ice, as the woman in the dream had instructed. They waited patiently, and soon enough, a seal appeared. The mother knew that she had to act quickly, so she grabbed a harpoon and threw it with all her might. The harpoon struck the seal, and it began to swim away, dragging the harpoon and line behind it. The mother and her children worked together to pull the seal out of the water and onto the ice. They were overjoyed at their success and quickly set to work preparing it. They took the meat and cooked it over an open fire and ate until they were satisfied.

As they ate, the mother shared her dream with her children and explained how the woman in her dream had led them to the seal. The children were astonished and grateful at the same time, and they thanked Creator and the mother of Creator Sets Free for the blessings.

The mother brought plenty for her husband and he was filled with joy because he knew Creator had provided for the needs of his family. He joyfully exclaimed, “Creator provides for us! Let us give Him thanks.”

From that day on, the family knew that they could rely on the guidance of the good spirits sent by Creator to help them in their time of need. They were grateful for the nourishment that the seal had provided them and worked hard to honor the animals and the land that sustained them.

Even in the face of adversity, it is important to have faith and trust in the guidance of good spirits and the wisdom of the land. By working together and respecting the spiritual and natural worlds, we can find the spiritual nourishment and physical sustenance that we need to survive.
