Chapter 48

1. The soul is the love of the Father being a robe that clothes each of us; in the beginning, it was like a prince wearing a crown amongst kings; it did not know how to fight in battle, because it belonged to the peaceful City of the Celestial Beings.

2. When the beast cast its eyes on the kingdom, it enticed the soul, and many left the resting place of the Father and became affiliated with the four-headed beast. (Oahspe 1:11-12)

3. But some souls armed themselves with the light, and they were strengthened by the power of Celestial Beings; the Celestial Beings went out and fought; they came in and protected the righteous souls.

4. We agreed in a covenant at the time, with the understanding that if victorious we shall receive a garland.

5. The souls were conquered in the first spiritual battle against the beast, but yet another struggle arose for us.

6. In time, some souls put on error and oblivion; they forgot their being and race and kinsfolk, and not knowing the door of the place of prayer to Jehovih and invoking Him – those souls became an enemy to the Father, becoming drunk with the cup of madness.

7. The souls were made to rebel against themselves; the evil spirits belonging to the beast entered, and armed themselves against us.
