Great Creator, who formed us from the dust of the earth,
\nWe come to You in prayer,
\nWith hearts full of questions and confusion.<\/p>\n
We read the story of Joseph,
\nAnd we see the jealousy of his brothers,
\nAnd the dreams that he had,
\nWhich seemed to point to his future greatness.
\n<\/p>\n
We wonder why Joseph had to suffer,
\nWhy he had to endure the hatred and betrayal of his own family,
\nWhy he had to be sold into slavery,
\nAnd why he had to spend years in prison,
\nBefore he was finally exalted to a position of power.<\/p>\n
We do not understand Your ways, Great Creator,
\nBut we trust that You are sovereign – the Chief of All Chiefs,
\nAnd that You work all things together for good,
\nFor those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.<\/p>\n
We pray for those who are suffering,
\nFor those who have been betrayed by their own families,
\nFor those who are struggling in slavery and oppression,
\nFor those who are in prison and long for freedom.<\/p>\n
We ask that You would bring comfort and hope,
\nTo all those who are in despair,
\nAnd that You would remind them of Your love,
\nAnd Your promise to never leave them or forsake them.<\/p>\n
We also pray for those who are in positions of power,
\nThat they would use their influence for good,
\nAnd that they would seek to bring justice and mercy,
\nTo those who are oppressed and forgotten.<\/p>\n
We thank You, Great Creator,
\nFor the example of Joseph,
\nAnd for the hope that his story brings,
\nOf redemption and restoration,
\nThrough Your grace and Your power. <\/p>\n
